JM-Mobile shorted for Java Multimedia for Mobile-phones is a multimedia integration and interaction project. Its goal is to provide the professional but user-easy tools that allow to author and distribute rich interactive content for mobile.

The project adopts the SMIL model from W3C as the basic multimedia integration and synchronisation model. It provides also some extensions to enhance the dynamic content and interaction of presentation, this is based on XForms model from W3C.

The project is implemented by using XML and Java technologies, the J2EE for the distributing component on server side, the Java Swing and Java2D for the authoring tool and j2me profile CLDC1.0 and MIDP 2.0 for the playback and browser engines on the cell-phones.

The architecture of JM-Mobile is modular and opened so it can be easily extended to adopt the specific requests. The individual media players are designed as the plug-ins, so the system can support easily the new media, for instance, the SVG Tiny will be soon supported by the next generation of java-enable cell-phones, and then the JM-Mobile will easily adopt this new media.
